We lock our secret code
Before the match, the server picks a secret code and shows you its fingerprint. From then on it can't change the code without the fingerprint giving it away.

You add yours
Your browser adds a random code of its own. The dice come from both codes combined, so no one can pick them alone.

You verify every roll
When the match ends we reveal our secret code. Your browser recomputes every roll and shows that not a single one was changed.
Frequently asked questions
Is Xounu free?
Yes. Every match is free and you don't need an account — open the page and play.
Who do I play against?
Press Start and we look for another player who picked the same rules. If nobody turns up within 10 seconds you can play the computer or keep waiting for a real player.
Can I play with a friend?
Yes. Choose “Invite a friend” and send the link. The match starts as soon as your friend opens it. The link works once and expires after an hour.
What is the difference between backgammon and tavla?
The moves are the same. In Turkish tavla the opening winner rolls again, the winner of a game starts the next one, and a gammon (mars) is worth 2 points with no triple backgammon. You can switch to an opening roll for every game, and turn on the “no hit-and-run” rule: a checker that hits in its home board can't move on that turn.
How do you stop cheating?
The game runs on our server. Your browser only sends the move you want; the server rolls the dice, checks every move and keeps the score. Online, each player has their own secret key, so nobody can move for their opponent.
Are the dice really fair?
Yes, and you can check. Before the match the server locks in a secret code; your browser (and, online, your opponent's) adds its own. When the match ends the server's code is revealed and your browser re-checks every roll.
What if I lose my connection?
Open the game again in the same browser and you continue where you left off. In online matches each move has a 90-second limit: if time runs out, that player loses the match.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. Xounu works in any modern browser, in full screen too. Phones without 3D support get a fast 2D board.
Can I turn off sounds or confirm moves automatically?
Yes. Use the speaker button to mute, and tick “Confirm automatically when all dice are played” under the board to skip the Confirm button.
What data do you collect?
Only what the game needs; no account, name or email. Visit statistics are collected only if you accept them. Details are in our Privacy & Cookie Policy.
